Hello, my name is Ian Dahlinghaus. I am the Graduate Admissions Counselor at MSOE and I have been in this role since July 2014. Prior to moving to Milwaukee and working at MSOE, I completed two terms of service as an AmeriCorps State volunteer in Austin, Texas. If you are unfamiliar with AmeriCorps and what they do, please take the time to check them out. In my role, I served as a College Access Advisor to 50-60 economically disadvantaged, first generation college-bound high school students.
Now, I am responsible for assisting prospective graduate students through the inquiry, application, registration and enrollment processes. I also spend quite a bit of my time traveling around Southeast Wisconsin, promoting our graduate programs at graduate school fairs and professional conferences. In addition to these events away from campus, I also help coordinate and execute events here on campus, such as our quarterly Graduate Programs Showcase. For those of our students who can't make it to an in-person info session, I host monthly online info sessions.
I am also currently a student in the MSOE MBA program. Not only will this provide me with the skill set I need to grow professionally and advance university achievement, but I am also gaining insight into the MBA program, which allows me to better address questions about the program from prospective students.
