It's Spring Break! I hope everyone has some time to relax this week and have some fun too. But do you know what's really fun? Winning free money!

With this extra time you have this week, it's important to remind you all that you can and should do your own scholarship searching! Money Monday is a great place to start, not to mention the only place you'll find scholarships exclusively for MSOE students, but there are so many more scholarships out there that I don't post. Why? Because what I post here I try to make sure is broad enough that more than one person will qualify because I don't want to waste your time and I want to make sure that you are finding scholarships you qualify for. BUT, there are so many specific scholarships out there!

For example:

  • Are you vegan or vegetarian? There's ascholarshipfor that!
  • Want to make your prom outfit out of Duck Tape? There's ascholarshipfor that!
  • Are you involved with horses? There's ascholarshipfor that!
  • Do you write or illustrate science fiction? There's ascholarshipfor that!

I could go on, but I think you get my point. Beyond your academic interests and merits, there are so many other scholarships you may qualify for that are based on your interests or other characteristics such as your geographic area, ethnic background, religion, and more. If there is something that makes you unique, different, or "weird" then there is most likely a scholarship for it - you just have to find it!

So, I encourage you to use some of your spring break time to go out and find some scholarships that are specific to YOU and your interests! College Greenlight is a great place to start searching, as are these other websites that we share with you. And, when all else fails, there's your trust friend Google. And high school students: be sure to check with your guidance counselor or pre-college person at your school because this is the time of year when local scholarships will be promoted and they may not even put them online but rather just send them to the high schools.

If I can help you in your scholarship search in any way, please let me know!
