What is the current status of mobile printing for MSOE?

I have been in talks with some faculty/staff about mobile printing across mobile devices, specifically smart phones and tablets.

Imagine, being late to class and you forgot to print out your essay. You rush out of your room forgetting your computer and the only mobile device that you have is your smart phone. Now, your class is located a fair distance away from the library so you won't be able to print your essay using a laptop. However, you stored your essay on your MSOE Box account. With your smart phone you were able to access your essay and print it out right before coming to class.

With mobile printing, I was hoping that you will be able to print from the mobile devices I specified above. Overall, its just a convenient service to have but I am curious as to its current development and the technology already available.

Does anyone else know about the current standing of MSOE mobile printing?

Thank you to Dana Grennier, Walter Schilling, and Mark Sebern for listening to my talk about mobile printing today.

Hopefully this could be a potential service for MSOE in the future!

Thank you,

Gerald Soriano

CE Academic Advising

Advising policy

All computer engineering students see their advisor quarterly to discuss academic and career plans and progress. CE students must receive their advisors' clearance before registering; the online registration system enforces this. Beat the registration rush by contacting your advisor early in the quarter.

Remember that you can schedule your advising appointment before you receive your quarterly registration notice from the Registrar, so do not wait until the last week!

Starting in week 7 sign-up sheets with available advising slots are normally posted on your advisor's office door. Please sign up for one of these slots; signing up early will give you a wider choice of times. Some advisors will notify you of other appointment procedures (e.g., Outlook) or walk-in advising hours.

What to bring to the meeting with your advisor

  • A copy of the CE curriculum flowchart for your curriculum version marked with the courses you have successfully completed.
    • Students first enrolled in F'15 follow curriculum 4.0.Flowchart, Track
    • Students first enrolled in F'13 and F'14 follow curriculum 3.5.  Flowchart, Track
    • Students first enrolled in F'11 and F'12 follow curriculum 3.4. Flowchart, Track
    • Students first enrolled in F'09 and F'10 follow curriculum 3.3.  Flowchart, Track
  • Your preliminary plans for the next quarter's schedule ( List of planned EECS electives)
  • Your curriculum track (course list)
  • Any questions you may have

Advisors

The MSOE Registrar keeps track of the advisor assigned to each student. If you are not sure who your advisor is, you can find out by following these steps.

  1. Log in to my.msoe.edu
  2. Click Personal Info (next to your name in the top bar)
  3. Click Academic Info within the My Info window
  4. Your advisors will be listed in the first section.

The CE advisors are Profs. Barnekow, Durant, Livingston, Meier, and Rothe.  All their offices are located on the 3rd floor of the Library.

Two-degree Tracks

Two-degree tracks exist for CE in combination with EE and with SE. These tracks are laid out for 5 years, but students have accelerated the course sequence and finished in one or two quarters beyond 4 years. Please see your advisor or program director (Dr. Durant) for more information.

I have reached out to the armyrotc@msoe.edu on mulitiple occasions as I prepare to attend MSOE next Fall and have never received a response.  Does anyone know why that published mailbox isn't monitored and where I might be able to actually engage someone on campus via email?
