This is the second part of “Take Flight 2016”which involves taking interested students on a field trip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Friday, Dec. 9 (Friday of week 2) to tour the Rockwell Collins facilities and have lunch with many MSOE alumni who work there. Many students have toured in the past and have been impressed with the high-tech applications they are working on involving displays and interfaces, GPS, software-defined radio, infotainment, and much, much more. This will be your opportunity to get up-close with the technologies that are used every day to improve the flight experience.
The bus will depart from MSOE at 7 a.m. today and return about 9 p.m. While most students have Friday classes that may present obstacles in joining the tour, it is a great opportunity, and most faculty can accommodate if you inform them beforehand. Space is limited and will be assigned on a first come-first served basis. The registration uses the same form as the Monday night event and is available at https://goo.gl/forms/oDTbA5SYZo147gKs2.
